[DeadCelebrityAlert] Actress Lois Nettleton dies at age 79

Actress Lois Nettleton passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2008 in Woodland Hills at age 79 due to lung cancer.
Starting her career under the stage name 'Lydia Scott', she made her Broadway debut in 1949's "Darkness at Noon" and "The Biggest Thief in Town."
In 1955, she understudied to actress Barbara Bel Geddes in the original production of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," directed by Elia Kazan.
In 1957, she was first seen on screen in a bit part in Kazan's "A Face in The Crowd", but her official screen debut came in the 1962 film "Period of Adjustment." Throughout her career she worked in both the theatre and on television.
Nominated for a Tony Award in 1976 for "They Knew What They Wanted", during the 1980s she was a staple guest-star on several television series, such as "Murder, She Wrote," "Full House," "Seinfeld," and included a memorial role as Bea Arthur's lesbian friend on an episode of "The Golden Girls," in 1986. In 2001, she had a recurring role as Ken Howard's girlfriend on the series "Crossing Jordon."
Her last television appearance was in the 2006 made for television movie "The Christmas Card."
