Crowded House paid tribute to him on its website."We are in mourning today for the death of Peter Jones," the band said in a statement. ...

British-born Jones replaced Paul Hester after he left the band in 1994.

Hester, who had depression, took his own life in 2005. Hits by Crowded House, led by New Zealand singer-songwriter Neil Finn, include Don’t Dream It’s Over, Something So Strong and Fall at Your Feet.
