Director Michael Cacoyannis has died from complications from a heart attack and chronic respiratory problems., according to the Associated Press. He was 89.

Cacoyannis' other screen credits include Stella, Electra, Iphigenia, and Sweet Country, as well as a 1999 version of The Cherry Orchard, which starred Alan Bates, Gerard Butler, Frances de la Tour, and Charlotte Rampling.
