[DeadCelebrityAlert] Former Korn Touring Guitarist Shane

Former Korn Touring Guitarist Shane

Gibson Dies

Sad news to report from the Korn

family. Shane Gibson, who performed

as a live member for Korn from

2007-2010, has passed away at the age

of 35 from complications due to a

blood clotting disorder.

After the departure of Brian 'Head'

Welch, Korn chose not to replace

their longtime guitarist, instead

opting to hire live performers to

fill Welch's sonic space. After

guitarists Rob Patterson and

Sevendust's Clint Lowrey finished

their respective stints with Korn,

Shane Gibson was recruited in 2007

and stuck with Korn until leaving in

2010. Gibson even took over lead

guitar for Korn when Munky was absent

from the band for a brief time in

2008.

Gibson went on to play with

SchwarZenatoR, stOrk and others, also

contributing to Korn singer Jonathan

Davis' solo album 'Jonathan David and

the SFA.'

Since Gibson's death, the guitarist's

personal Facebook page has been

flooded by heartfelt condolences. As

of this posting, Facebook memorials

have been piling up on the late

Gibson's Facebook feed, almost

without one full minute passing

before a new tribute is added.

Korn have yet to comment on Gibson's

death, but stOrk have just posted a

memorial for their friend and

bandmate via Facebook:

It is with deepest sadness and

regret that we must confirm that

stOrk founding member and lead

guitarist Shane Paul Gibson passed

away at 5:45 AM on April 15th, 2014

in the UAB Hospital in Birmingham,

Alabama as a result of complications

from a blood clotting disorder. He

was 35 years old. He was one of the

best guitar players the world has

ever known and his virtuosity was

matched only by his wit and

generosity of spirit. He will be

missed beyond measure.

Our thoughts and prayers go out

to his family and all those who loved

him as much as we did.

John Winkler

John Winkler was tragically in the wrong place at the worst time.

The 30-year-old aspiring producer, who had found temp work as a production assistant on Comedy Central's  Tosh.0, was shot and killed by L.A. County Sheriff's deputies Monday while they were responding to a report of a knife-wielding assailant at a West Hollywood apartment complex.

According to a statement released today by the L.A. County District Attorney's Office, deputies arrived at the building on Palm Avenue to investigate. A man came running out of an apartment cupping his neck, which had blood spurting out of it, and Winkler was following after him.

Prosecutors say that deputies fired at Winkler, believing that he was the attacker. The man who was already bleeding was injured and Winkler was killed.

Meanwhile, Alexander Tor McDonald, 26, has been charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of torture in connection with what allegedly went down inside that apartment building. McDonald pleaded not guilty at his arraignment today and is due back in court May 8. He's being held on $4 million bail.

Per the  Los Angeles Times , the LASD has also confirmed that Winkler got unwittingly involved after heading over to a neighboring apartment, where he came upon the alleged hostage situation.

"The apartment door suddenly opened and a male victim came rushing out," read a statement from the LASD obtained by the Times. "He was covered in blood and bleeding profusely from the neck. Simultaneously, victim Winkler ran out of the door, lunging at the back of the fleeing victim. Both ran directly at the deputies.

"Winkler was similar to the description of the suspect and was wearing a black shirt," the statement continued. "Believing Winkler was the assailant and the assault was ongoing and he would attack the entry team; three deputies fired their duty weapons at him."

A friend of the deceased told the paper that Winkler, who had just moved to California from Washington six months ago, was friends with two of the men in the nearby apartment and he went over to check on them because he heard screaming.
