[DeadCelebrityAlert] Debbie Reynolds dies at 84, reports AP

Debbie Reynolds died after she was rushed to the hospital Wednesday, her son told the Associated Press. She was 84.
Earlier in the day, TMZ and the Los Angeles Times said she suffered a medical emergency.
It's been a tragic week for the iconic Hollywood family. Reynolds lost her daughter, Carrie Fisher, on Tuesday. Fisher died at a Los Angeles hospital days after suffering a heart attack on a plane last week. She was 60.
TMZ was the first to report the news, saying Reynolds was at her son Todd Fisher's home in Beverly Hills planning her daughter's funeral and may have suffered a stroke. The outlet reported Reynolds has been distraught since Fisher's health declined last Friday.
The Los Angeles Times also reported Reynolds was rushed to the hospital, adding that she complained of breathing problems.
The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed they responded to a call for medical assistance from a house on Coldwater Canyon Drive in Beverly Hills (because the LAFD's station was closer) shortly after 1 p.m. local time. LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart told USA TODAY that an "adult female" in "fair to serious condition" was transported to Cedars Sinai Hospital, the closest to the address.
Because of a federal privacy law, emergency services can't identify patients.
USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Reynolds; her 24-year-old granddaughter, Billie Lourd; and Joely Fisher, Carrie Fisher's half-sister.
The Oscar-nominated actress had given periodic updates on Fisher while her daughter lay in the hospital, first telling fans Fisher was "stable" and on Tuesday confirming her death with a touching note.
"Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter. I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop. Love Carries Mother," she wrote on Facebook.
Reynolds previously suffered a stroke in 2015, which Fisher referenced in an interview with People in May while discussing her new documentary, Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds (which her mother participated in). "It's a lot of times terrifying, but watching my mother, who's incredibly resilient, coping with certain health issues that she's had," Fisher said of Reynolds. "We were really lucky we got really what probably could be her last (big project)."
In June, Reynolds' son Todd told ABC News that "when (Reynolds) was in the hospital and barely recovering from an operation, she had a small stroke."
Last year, Reynolds received a Governors Award (though couldn't attend) and Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award. The latter was presented to her on stage by Fisher.
Reynolds' celebrated career in Hollywood lasted more than 65 years. She starred in memorable films including 1952's  Singin' in the Rain, 1962's How the West Was Won and 1956's Bundle of Joy.
The outspoken Reynolds made a specialty playing offbeat mothers onscreen, alongside Albert Brooks in 1996's Mother and on the sitcom Will & Grace (1999 to 2006) as Debra Messing's screen mom.
But the most famous is her true-life role as Carrie Fisher's mother, the subject of Fisher's semi-autobiographical novel and 1990 film Postcards From the Edge.
"It was her story. It was not my story," said Reynolds. "We've had our ups and downs, and we survived it all."
In 2015, she told USA TODAY there was one screen character she related to the most: the indomitable, outspoken heroine of 1964's The Unsinkable Molly Brown.
"I feel akin to that character who says, 'I ain't down yet,' " said Reynolds. "In life, I'm like Molly Brown. I've had tough times along the way and gone through experiences that many women have gone through. But I ain't down yet."
Reynolds was married three times, to singer Eddie Fisher (1955 to 1959), the father of Carrie and Todd; to businessman Harry Karl (1960 to 1973); and to real estate developer Richard Hamlett (1984 to 1996).

[DeadCelebrityAlert] Carrie Fisher, 60

Actress Carrie Fisher, whose grit and wit made "Star Wars'" Princess Leia an iconic and beloved figure to millions of moviegoers, died Tuesday in Los Angeles. She was 60.

Her death was confirmed in a statement issued by the publicist for Billie Lourd, Fisher's daughter.

"It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning," Simon Halls said.

Fisher's death came four days after she suffered a cardiac event on a flight from London to Los Angeles, according to a source familiar with the situation.

She beat out the likes of Jodie Foster and Amy Irving for the part of Leia in George Lucas' original 1977 "Star Wars." Her tough-as-nails princess was strong and independent -- and the role positioned Fisher in the decades that followed as something of a feminist icon.

The film became a blockbuster -- the Internet Movie Database ranks it as the fourth most-watched movie of all time, behind "Titanic," "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" and "The Wizard of Oz" -- and turned Fisher into an overnight star.

[DeadCelebrityAlert] Zsa Zsa Gabor, 99

Zsa Zsa Gabor died of heart failure on Sunday, December 18, she was 99.

The Hungarian actress and socialite's longtime publicist Ed Lozzi told Variety she died in her Bel Air mansion and had been on life support for five years.

Born in Hungary in 1917, the former beauty queen emigrated to the United States with her glamorous sister Eva in the early 1940s. Shortly after, she met hotel magnate Conrad Hilton, Paris Hilton's grandfather. The couple married in April 1942 and had one child together, daughter Francesca, who died after suffering a massive stroke in January 2015 at age 67. Gabor and Hilton divorced in 1947.

Gabor made her big screen debut with a supporting role in the 1952 film Lovely to Look At. She later starred in John Huston's adaptation of Moulin Rouge (1952), The Story of Three Loves (1953), The Girl in the Kremlin (1957) and Orson Welles' classic Touch of Evil (1958).

Throughout her career, the Hungarian beauty was known for her flirtatious personality. She was married nine times, most recently to Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt, with whom she tied the knot in 1986.

Gabor was also a tabloid fixture. In 1989, she infamously made headlines for slapping a Beverly Hills police officer, an incident she later spoofed in several on-screen cameos. She was arrested for assault and was sentenced to three days in jail.

In 2002, the vivacious star started dealing with health issues following a serious car accident in Los Angeles that left her in a coma for several days. She survived strokes in 2005 and 2007 and underwent multiple surgeries in recent years. In 2011, Gabor's right leg was amputated above the knee to save her from a gangrenous infection caused by an untreated blood clot. In February 2016, she was hospitalized for a feeding tube-related lung infection.

Gabor is survived by her husband and their 49-year-old son, businessman Marcus Prinz von Anhalt.

[DeadCelebrityAlert] Joseph Mascolo, 87

"It is with great sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our dear friend and beloved member of the 'Days of our Lives' family, Joseph Mascolo," "Days of Our Lives" executive producer Ken Corday said in a statement. [DeadCelebrityAlert] Van Williams, 82

Van Williams, who portrayed the masked crime-fighter The Green Hornet in a memorable but short-lived companion TV series to Batman in the 1960s, has died. He was 82.

The actor, who earlier played bachelor private eye Kenny Madison on two Warner Bros. Television detective series, Bourbon Street Beat and Surfside 6, died Nov. 29 of kidney failure at his home in Scottsdale, Ariz., his wife of 57 years, Vicki, told The Hollywood Reporter. He had just one kidney since he was 25, she said.

In The Green Hornet, an adaptation of the radio serial that debuted in the 1930s, Williams starred as playboy editor/publisher Britt Reid, who inherited The Daily Sentinel newspaper from his father, who died in jail after being framed for a crime he did not commit. Reid donned a mask, fedora and long coat to battle the bad guys as the Hornet.

Famed martial-arts expert Bruce Lee, then unknown in the U.S., played Kato, Reid's manservant. He drove his boss around town in their ominous, gadget-packed Black Beauty car.

With Batman, starring Adam West and Burt Ward as the Dynamic Duo, enjoying huge popularity in its first season, that show's 20th Century Fox-based executive producer, William Dozier, brought The Green Hornet to ABC, and it debuted on a Friday night in September 1966.

"When I was a kid I had actually been a fan of The Green Hornet when it was on the radio and in those serials at the theater, but I didn't know if I wanted to star in a TV series like that," Williams told interviewer Michael Barnum. "It was very similar to Adam West's show ...; and seemed like something that would probably be the kiss of death to my career. You do that type of show and become so identified with it, like Superman's George Reeves was, and you can never get away from it. But, my agency, William Morris, really wanted me to do The Green Hornet, so that is what I did."

Williams and Lee also appeared on Batman in a "window" cameo and in a much-hyped two-part crossover episode during that show's second season. However, viewers' once-ravenous appetite for such comic-book fare faded quickly: The Green Hornet lasted just 26 episodes, leaving the air in March 1967, while Batman was done in March 1968 after its third season.

Williams pretty much retired from acting in 1982. He spent years as a reserve deputy with the Malibu station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and worked for its search and rescue team.

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Van Zandt Williams grew up on a ranch. He attended Texas Christian University and later had a job as a skin-diving instructor in Hawaii when he met producer Michael Todd — the husband of Elizabeth Taylor and the Oscar-winning producer of Around the World in 80 Days — who convinced him he should try acting. The dark-haired, blue-eyed Williams came to Los Angeles and was signed by Warner Bros., and he made his onscreen debut on a 1958 installment of General Electric Theater that also featured Ronald Reagan.

After appearing on episodes of Lawman and Colt .45, Williams was hired to play the young bachelor Madison — one of the private investigators who worked out of an office above a restaurant in New Orleans' French Quarter — in Bourbon Street Beat. His character was the boyfriend of the secretary portrayed by former Miss USA Arlene Howell.

That show lasted one season (1959-60), but Warner Bros. brought Williams and his Madison character to Surfside 6, a series about another P.I. firm, this one working out of a houseboat in Miami. That show lasted two seasons.

In 1964-65, Williams played the assistant (and pilot) of an eccentric millionaire industrialist (Walter Brennan) on the ABC series The Tycoon.

After the swift demise of The Green Hornet, Williams starred in Westwind, a 1975-76 NBC Saturday morning kids show, as an underwater photographer who sailed around the Pacific with his wife, a marine biologist, and their two kids.

Williams acted rarely after that, appearing on such shows The Streets of San Francisco, Barnaby Jones, The Rockford Files and Mrs. Columbo.

Contrary to some reports, he did not have a cameo in the 2011 Green Hornet movie that starred Seth Rogen. "He wanted nothing to do with that movie," his wife said.

Survivors also include his daughters Nina, Tia and Britt.
