Veteran Hollywood actress Elizabeth Norment has passed away, according to The Hollywood Reporter . She was 61.
Her sister Kate confirmed the news to the publication adding that she died on Oct. 13 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. A cause of death is unknown at this time.
Norment's most recent role was Nancy Kaufberger, the loyal executive secretary to politician Frank Underwood ( Kevin Spacey) on the Emmy-nominated Netflix series House of Cards.
"Elizabeth Norment was a talented actress with a beautiful spirit who touched the entire House of Cards family," executives at the show's production company told THR in a statement.

Long before she became a success story in Hollywood, Norment grew up in Washington, D.C., with her family.
She would receive a master's degree from the Yale School of Drama before moving to Southern California in 1983.
With persistence and hard work, Norment would develop a loyal fan base and great reputation in memorable shows including St. Elsewhere, Party of Five, ER, Mad About You and Blue Bloods. She also played Judge Arlene Brewer on NBC's long-running series Law & Order.
On the big screen, Norment obtained small parts in The Woman in Red, Runaway and Romy and Michele's High School Reunion.

All her success, however, may not have been made possible without her early stage career at Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and Los Angeles' Colony Theatre. Her stage credits included "As You Like It" and "Much Ado About Nothing."
"A lot of people in the business either saw them or heard about [those performances]," she told the Los Angeles Times back in 1991. "I've been working steadily ever since."
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this difficult time.

[DeadCelebrityAlert] Jack Bruce, the singer and bassist for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Cream,

Jack Bruce

By |

Jack Bruce, the singer and bassist for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Cream, has passed away, his family confirmed the musician's passing on his Facebook page. He was 71.

Fricke's Picks: The Cream of Bruce

"It is with great sadness that we, Jack's family, announce the passing of our beloved Jack: husband, father, granddad, and all round legend. The world of music will be a poorer place without him, but he lives on in his music and forever in our hearts," the Bruce family wrote. Bruce's publicist added, "He died today at his home in Suffolk surrounded by his family." No other details were revealed but the Press Association reports that the bassist suffered from liver disease.

As one-third of one of rock's greatest trios, along with guitarist Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker, Bruce was the voice and songwriter behind classic tracks like "White Room," "SWLABR," and "Sunshine of Your Love," which Bruce co-wrote with Clapton. Considered to be the first rock "supergroup," Cream pumped out four studio albums in three years – three of which landed on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time – before going their separate ways.

The band reunited briefly in 1993 for their Rock Hall induction, then again in for a triumphant series of 2005 concerts at London's Royal Albert Hall and New York's Madison Square Garden. In 2006, Bruce and his Cream mates received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Bruce also occasionally served as a member of Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band and collaborated on the title track of Frank Zappa's Apostrophe.

Following Cream's breakup in 1968, Bruce kick-started a long solo career with 1969's Songs of a Tailor. He would release over a dozen solo LPs over the next 45 years, including his latest album titled Silver Rails in March 2014. "I quite like to just enjoy my life. I'm thrilled to make this album. I put my heart and soul into it, and I'm very pleased with the way it came out," Bruce told Rolling Stone of his new album in April.

Cream also landed on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Artists, and in an ode to the trio written by Roger Waters, the Pink Floyd bassist writes, "Then there's Jack Bruce — probably the most musically gifted bass player who's ever been."

[DeadCelebrityAlert] 7th Heaven Star Sarah Goldberg Dead at 40

7th Heaven Star Sarah Goldberg Dead at 40

Sarah Danielle Goldberg

Mike Vulpo, eonline
Wed Oct 8, 3:25 AM UTC

Actress Sarah Goldberg, who appeared in shows such as House, Judging Amy and 7th Heaven, died Sept. 27, multiple reports confirm. She was 40.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times , who spoke to the star's mother, Goldberg died peacefully in her sleep as her computer rested on her lap. She was living at the family cabin in Wisconsin.

Although an autopsy failed to determine a cause of death, Goldberg's mother believes a heart ailment may have ultimately caused her passing.

"She went to sleep and didn't wake up," her mother told the publication. The actress was also known as her stage name,  Sarah Danielle Madison.

Goldberg attended Amherst College and earned a bachelor's degree in biology before getting her first big acting gig in My Best Friend's Wedding. She later earned roles in the Denzel Washington movie Training Day, as well as Jurassic Park III.

Fans, however, may best remember Goldberg from her role as Sarah Glass Camden in the long-running series 7th Heaven.

Described as a medical student and the daughter of a rabbi, her character fell in love with Matt Camden, the son of a Christian pastor played by Stephen Collins. Their interfaith romance quickly became a fan-favorite storyline.

"She would walk the street here, or places in Wisconsin, and people would come up to her and say, 'You played the daughter,'" her mother told the Chicago Sun-Times. "She wanted to go to medical school, and instead for three years she played a doctor on 7th Heaven.

Although services have already been held, the family has asked for contributions to the Sarah Goldberg Memorial Fund at PAWS .

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

[DeadCelebrityAlert] Geoffrey Holder, 84

Geoffrey Holder, a versatile artist known for his ability as a dancer, actor and -- most famously to most of America -- a pitchman for 7Up, has died. He was 84.

The cause was complications due to pneumonia, according to Charles M. Mirotznik, his family's attorney.

Holder, who stood an imposing 6-foot-6 and had a deep, mellifluous, Caribbean-lilted voice, was a multitalented performer who easily shifted between painting, theater, film and TV. He won two Tony awards in 1975 for the musical "The Wiz," the vibrant all-black re-telling of "The Wizard of Oz." Holder earned awards for best direction and a Tony for best costume design.

With his regal stature made him an unforgettable presence on screen, as well.

Some of his more memorable work appears in 1967's "Doctor Dolittle," 1982's "Annie" and 1973's "Live and Let Die," in which he faced off against Roger Moore's James Bond as the villain Baron Samedi. In later decades he worked with Eddie Murphy in 1992's "Boomerang," and more recently did voice work in 2005's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."

Holder could even make a commercial sing. For TV viewers in the '70s and '80s, the performer was most familiar as the dapper pitchman in 7Up ads, telling viewers to sample the "Un-Cola" in his rich voice.

Holder honed his artistic gifts from an early age. Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, in 1930, he joined his older brother's dance troupe at the age of 7. By 1954, Holder was making his Broadway debut in the musical "House of Flowers."

He followed that up with principal dancer work with New York's Metropolitan Opera Ballet in 1955 and 1956, and went on to star in an all-black production of "Waiting for Godot" in 1957. That same year, he was awarded a Guggenheim fellowship for painting.

On top of that, Holder was also an author: He released a cookbook of Caribbean cuisine in 1973.

Holder is survived by his wife, Carmen De Lavallade, whom he married in 1955, and their son, Léo.

Paul Revere Dies: The Raiders Band Leader, "Madman of Rock n' Roll," Was 76

Paul Revere and the Raiders

Corinne Heller, eonline
Sun Oct 5, 10:28 PM UTC

Paul Revere, leader and organ player of instrumental rock group  Paul Revere & The Raiders, has died at age 76.

The performer, who was dubbed the "The Last Madman of Rock n' Roll" due to his sense of humor and whose band sported Revolutionary War-style costumes during their performances, passed away on Saturday at his home in Idaho. The cause of his death was not revealed.

A message was posted on  The Raiders' official website  in the form of a sweet, funny letter composed by "everyone who has ever met" him.

"Meeting you after a show in the autograph line cemented the deal for everyone," it said. "Just as fun, funny and spontaneous as you were onstage, extremely nice and accommodating to everyone who waited in the long lines to meet you. Take a picture - 'SURE, take TWO!' Sign these 20 albums? 'Why NOT, you helped pay for my first house, and my first wife!'"

"When you turned your attention towards someone, you made that person feel special and in your spotlight," it added. "You had a pet name for each person, and you never hesitated to tell them how exceptional they were."

"On October 4th, 2014, an incredible ride came to the end, As Rock and Roll Band Leader Paul Revere died peacefully at his home in Idaho, a small estate overlooking a tranquil river canyon,"  Roger Hart, who became the band's manager in the '60s, said in another  online message .

The singer revealed in a  Facebook  post this past July that he was dealing with "health issues," adding, "Nothing can stop the old man. I'm like the Energizer Bunny! I jump on my tour bus and go from city to city, packing a trunk full of great Raider songs, tight pants and bad jokes—all against doctor's orders, by the way!"

The band continued to perform. On Aug. 1, the group promoted a new gig—they were to perform on a musical "oldies" cruise in 2015.

Revere had said in a 2013 message that he has dealt with "just about everything" health-wise over the past 75 years—"2 types of cancer (beat 'em both!), rotator cuff surgery (killed it!), hysterectomy (don't ask) and on and on."

Paul Revere's group was most famous in the '60s and '70s and were the first group to be signed by Columbia Records. They released such as "Kicks" and "Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian)." The band was also one of the first performers of the hit "Louie Louie," which was made famous by  The Kingsman in 1963.

"We were the party band that played all these parties for the fraternities," Revere was quoted as saying in an interview, posted on  Classicbands.com . "We were always an off the wall, crazy kind of group. We loved to do the bizarre onstage. We were a fun band."

He also talked about how they got their Revolutionary War military look, saying the band once obtained costumes from a shop in Portman, Oregon "for the hell of it," adding, "Paul Revere and The Raiders...why not?"

"So, that night at the dance, we took an intermission half way through it and put on the Revolutionary coats and the outfits. We came out and it just added another element of craziness to the show. I started renting 'em for a couple of weekends and I said, 'This is stupid. I might as well have 'em made.' So, I had some costumes made, just the coats," he said, adding, "It was the kind of thing that just grew because of the name. It just seemed like a way to get attention."

Revere was born in Nebraska in January 1938 as Paul Revere Dick. He was preceded in death by his third wife, Sydney.

"The world will be a lot less fun, a lot less kind and gentle without Paul Revere in it," the letter stated. "Your larger-than-life absence will leave a void in our hearts and our lives. We are all blessed to have known you, and we'll miss you more than you could ever know."
